Malaysia Airlines serves 106 destinations across six continents with a modern fleet of 95 aircraft, including the B747-400s and the new B777s.
Malaysia Airlines on going commitment to strengthen Kuala Lumpur International Airport as a premier commercial aviation hub in the Asian region, Malaysia Airlines' rationalized its international operations during the years 2000 and 2001 with increased passenger flights to Frankfurt, Jeddah, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Auckland, Shanghai and Hong Kong, Denpasar, Jakarta, Medan, Phnom Penh and Hanoi.
Malaysia Airlines air freight arm, MASkargo complemented this commitment through tactical alliances with partner airlines to operate full freighter services between Kuala Lumpur and Basel, Amsterdam, Osaka and Seoul. In addition, it mounted charter flights to handle the movement of Formula-1 race cars at both circuits of the F1 races in Melbourne, Australia and Sepang, Malaysia. It was also commissioned to transport FIM 500 Grand Prix motorcycles for the races in Sepang and in Europe.
In Malaysia, the airline's flagship Golden Lounge at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Satellite building was equipped with internet browsing facility effective August 2000, and its Golden Lounge in Penang International airport was upgraded and opened again for customers effective 8 March 2001. Likewise, its new Golden Lounge in Kota Kinabalu International Airport, equipped with the latest facilities, opened its doors to customers on 25 August 2001.
Enrich
Malaysia Airlines' own loyalty programme, 'Enrich', registered a 35% membership increase last year. This product was further enhanced by increased qualifier threshold for Gold card members, incentive packages introduced for high achievers and joint promotions with premier credit card companies. It is currently intensifying efforts to increase membership and will soon introduce the Enrich Platinum card.
