The more frequently you fly South African Airlines, South African Airlink, South African Express Airways, Airlink Swaziland or Air Tanzania - during a calendar year, the more prestigious your Voyager status becomes. As you progress through the tiers - Blue, Silver, Gold, Platinum and ultimately, Lifetime Platinum - you'll be entitled to more privileges, such as Bonus Miles, access to private airport lounges, additional baggage allowance and even a Chauffeur service for Platinum and Lifetime Platinum members!
Check-in and boarding procedures
South African Airlines has check-in and boarding requirements in place to ensure your safety and depart on time.
International and Regional Check-in
All check-in formalities must be done 2 ½ hours prior to departure, irrespective of passenger's class.
Domestic Check-in
ID Required: ALL passengers are required to produce an acceptable identification at check-in.
Economy class: Passengers are required to check in at least 1 ½ hours prior to a flight's scheduled departure time.
Business Class: Passengers are requested to check in at least 1 ½ hours prior to a flight's scheduled departure time.
Curb-side Check-in
South African Airlines now offers a curb-side check-in facility for First Class passengers, Life Time Platinum members and Platinum card holders.
First Class passengers may check their baggage as soon as they arrive at the curb-side check-in counter, where South African Airlines staff are on hand to escort the passenger through a fast-track immigration channel, directly to the First Class Lounge. All other Voyager members can also make use of the curb-side facility if they have hand baggage only.
